Leonard S. Gold, principal in Utility Strategies Consulting Group, LLC, is a consultant with over 35 years of utility and consulting experience. Lenny earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering (Power Program) from Northeastern University in 1972 and his Masters of Science degree in Engineering Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1975. He is a professional engineer in six states and is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. His prior experience includes working for Northeast Utilities Service Company, R.W. Beck, Gold, Darnall & Associates, Resource Management International, Inc. and L. S. Gold & Associates.

Recent assignments have focused on electric utility facility acquisition and formation, power procurement negotiations, FERC transmission access arrangements and litigation support. He has been instrumental in conducting a wide range of consulting engagements relating to resource planning. Lenny has also been quite active in negotiating utility transmission, power supply and service agreements, addressing scheduling and dispatching, metering, reserve requirements, energy banking, future power requirements and rate structures. In this capacity he has dealt with both owners and generators of power and has addressed issues associated with back-up service and interconnection arrangements and metering. He has served as an expert witness before regulatory agencies on issues relating to generation planning, reliability and purchase power.

Lenny has current assignments with several Native American tribes. These assignments include assessment of the acquisition of the electrical facilities on the reservation, valuing the system, negotiating the purchase price, the contracts for power supply and transmission access. In addition, he has provided formation as well as organizational structure and made presentations to obtain approval of the tribal council.
